The main hospital site is in the historical Cathedral city of Exeter that has abundant family amenities and beautiful surrounding countryside. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a speech and language therapist keen to develop their skills in working with adults across acute in-patients and community rehabilitation.

The acute elements of this rotational post are based at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) and cover (a) stroke and neuro-rehab and (b) specialist respiratory and surgical wards, ICU and HDU, trauma and orthopaedics and a number of wards devoted to Healthcare for Older People.

The two community bases are Exmouth and Exeter Community Hospitals, where you will be a core member of the Community Rehabilitation Team and deliver speech and language therapy in in-patient, out-patient and domiciliary settings, together with virtual interventions from home/clinic.

In both acute and community you will work under the guidance of the Lead Speech & Language Therapist. You will work in partnership with people with acquired communication and swallowing disorders to reduce the impact of their communication and swallowing difficulties on well-being and enhance their ability to participate in daily life.

We are a strong, cohesive adult speech and language therapy service spanning acute, community and Learning Disabilities, with excellent systems in place for supervision, support and continuing professional development. We are looking for applicants who are flexible and would welcome the opportunity to gain experience in a range of clinical areas.

This is a permanent, full time position. Preference will be given to applicants with post-qualification experience of working with adults with acquired conditions.
