North Middlesex University Hospital is one of London’s busiest acute hospitals, serving more than 350,000 people living in Enfield and Haringey and the surrounding areas, including Barnet and Waltham Forest.

We are an integrated provider with a full range of adult, elderly and children's services across medical and surgical disciplines including community 0-19 yr old services in Enfield. Our specialist services include stroke, HIV/AIDS, cardiology, haematology, diabetes, fertility and orthopaedics. Our sickle cell and thalassaemia department is nationally recognised as a leading centre for these diseases. Every day, on average, we see 500 patients in A&E; 15 babies are born in our maternity unit; about 450 inpatients are cared for on our wards; about 50 patients have major or minor surgery in one of our 10 operating theatres; and about 800 people attend our outpatients clinics.

We are seeking a confident, highly motivated and forward thinking Radiographer with a passion for service development to take the role of Radiotherapy Team Leader (Band 7). The successful candidate will be supported to take forward developments in innovative practice and utilise existing leadership skills and evidence based learning to enable the service to maintain quality standards.

The post holder will participate in all aspects of patient care on the treatment units on a rotational basis; both during normal and extended working hours as well as a commitment to provide an emergency service.

We actively support local research, CPD, training and skills development and are continually expanding our engagement in national clinical trials. We have a commitment to Radiographer led services, with role advancement offered or actively being developed within the areas of radiographer led breast, palliative and skins mark ups, virtual simulation, and contrast media injection. There is an on-treatment review service led by a dedicated Macmillan treatment review Radiographer and a Macmillan Consultant Head & Neck Radiographer.

The department is equipped with three Varian TrueBeam Linacs. The department also has an Xstrahl Superficial unit. RapidArc treatments are now routinely delivered for a number of tumour sites with CBCT soft tissue matching. The department has implemented SABR for lung and oligometastatic disease, DIBH treatment for left breast patients and 4DCT planning with backup gating protocols for Radical lung and lower oesophagus patients. Within the Pre-treatment suite, we have a dedicated radiotherapy Phillips Brilliance 16 slice Big Bore CT with 4DCT capabilities.

The Trust serves the boroughs of Enfield, Haringey and also draws patients from Barnet and Waltham Forest. This is a catchment area of around one million residents and covers a highly diverse population with affluent wards as well as areas of complex deprivation and serious health need. The workload is very varied, including Urology, Head and Neck, Breast, Lung and upper and lower Gastrointestinal Tract.

Hours of work may be flexible, and will reflect the needs of the Department. Radiotherapy treatment is routinely delivered between 8.00am and 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday; the person appointed will be required to work shift patterns to cover extended working days, machine service days in addition to bank holidays with some weekend working on an ad hoc basis.
