We are committed to providing continuous professional development, staff benefits and flexibility to shape our workforce around our patient care.

Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Non-Executive Director - Designate

At Ashford & St Peter’s NHS FT we are proud of our team, our hospitals and the quality of the care we provide to our patients. We believe we are in a good position to meet the challenges facing the community we serve and the NHS based on the strength of our values, our culture of continuous learning and improvement, our focus on people, effective use of resources and collaboration with others from across our local health economy.

At such a challenging time for the country and the NHS, this is an excellent time, full of opportunity, to join the Board at Ashford and St Peter’s. We have used our collective resilience, creativity and expertise to meet the demands placed on us by the Pandemic and this has proven our innovative talents and capabilities. We have introduced a new operating model that creates the framework to remain focused on the delivery of the Trust Strategy whilst also seeking to stop the transmission of infections so that we can safely remobilise our full portfolio of clinical services.

Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust operates from two main hospital sites in North West Surrey, with our 4,800 colleagues providing services to a population of over 420, 000 living in the boroughs of Runnymede, Spelthorne, Woking and parts of Elmbridge, Hounslow, Surrey Heath and beyond.

We wish to appoint a Non-Executive Director – designate with a financial background to provide succession planning for our current Non-Executive Director who leaves in April 2022 and is the chair of our Modern Healthcare Committee (financial sub-committee of the Board). We are seeking someone with a strong financial background and with a recognised financial/accountancy qualification to continue in this role. We aim to provide a period of overlap to ensure a robust period of handover and assurance.

You can play an essential role in our future success, working closely with the Board, bringing independence, external skills and perspectives, and challenge to financial and strategy development. You will share a corporate responsibility for the governance and performance of the Trust in meeting both strategic and operational objectives. You will actively support and promote a positive culture for the Trust in line with our Values and will share the responsibility to act in the best interests of the public and communities we serve.

Your role will be to ensure that the Trust fulfils its statutory and legislative responsibilities, whilst always prioritising a commitment to excellent patient care both in the hospitals and in the local community. You will utilise your professional skills and perspective and add value to the governance and strategic development of the Trust, holding senior managers to account and offering collaborative challenge and advice. You will also be strongly committed to making a difference to the way care is delivered to patients.

We have a preference for local candidates who have a commitment to supporting the local health economy but welcome applicants from neighbouring counties or London who would provide a complementary perspective.

We particularly welcome applications from female, BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) or disabled candidates to strengthen the diversity of our Board.

Please click on the Trust's microsite link to this role (shown to the right of this page) for more information.

Please complete and submit a short application via NHS jobs and attach your CV and covering letter. For further information please contact Lynne Mackenzie, Recruitment Hub Manager 01932 722563 lynne.mackenzie3@nhs.net.
