Working 37.5 hours a week on a 9-month contract, you will join the team as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant at The Woodhouse, where you’ll provide person-centred care for people with a learning disability and/or Autism. Gaining experience across low secure and locked rehabilitation environments to support better health and greater independence.

Working alongside Registered Speech and Language Therapists, you will assist in deliveringspeech and language therapy services tosupport people with their communication needs within an empoweringenvironment, where they can gain confidence in their abilities. This includes initial communication screening assessment, ongoing communication assessment and therapeutic sessions and providing individual and group interventions.

As a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, you'll confidently carry out and prepare group and individual activities, as designated by the Speech and Language Therapist. You will be responsible for designing, providing and managing all resources, ensuring service users are equipped with the correct resources.

You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills surrounding dysphagia as you support in completing the initial screening assessment, liaise with the qualified SLT regarding ongoing dysphagia care plans and will eventually provide advice to staff regarding the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative modified diet scales.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Time management/ability to prioritise
  • Ability to coordinate, motivate and engage service users
  • Good English skills, an A-Level or degree level English is desirable
