An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Business, Development and Enterprise Team of one of the most successful and best performing NHS Foundation Trusts in the country. You will join a small team of senior colleagues responsible for delivering our business strategy, contracting and performance and commercial strategies.

Working with the Board of Directors, senior managers, clinicians and key stakeholders, the post-holder will lead on NHS business development for the Trust, including the development of an overarching strategy for development of new NHS business to support the Trust’s strategic objectives, maximising opportunities offered by service procurements and partnerships.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a framework for assessing which procurements we pursue in the context of the Trust strategic objectives, undertake market scanning and market analysis to identify new business opportunities, and develop relationships with partners (internal and external) to deliver opportunities.

You will support the Executive Team and Deputy Director of Business & Development on the acute collaboration agenda for the Trust, working with other Trusts to deliver enhanced and more sustainable service offers. This will involve developing and maintaining relationships with other (non-Newcastle) local health systems e.g. North Tyneside, Northumberland, Gateshead, Cumbria etc.

You will take forward the development of prime provider contracts, working with clinical leads to develop managed clinical networks and other relationships between provider Trusts and clinicians.

You will develop and maintain relationships with Independent Sector Providers.

Suitable candidates for this role will combine successful, recent senior level management experience with demonstrable achievement in developing constructive working relationships with key stakeholders, as well as demonstrable experience of procurement of clinical services from provider and/or commissioner perspective.

Personal attributes will include the ability to combine intellectual capacity, excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills, a ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to lead and manage multiple projects to tight deadlines. You will also be able to demonstrate an in depth understanding of current issues, national policy and standards and evidence your commitment to service delivery of the highest quality.

Essential requirements include degree level education, relevant management or clinical experience equivalent to Masters Level, and significant operational experience at Directorate Manager or equivalent level

The salary will be commensurate with the level and responsibility of the post.
