Clinical Fellow (ST4+ equivalent) in Neonatology

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic doctor to complement our existing Middle Grade team, to cover for maternity leave on our tertiary Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The post would suit middle grade doctors, those looking for Neonatal SPIN accreditation and including post CCT/ fellows pursuing CESR. Overseas trainees are welcome, and a full induction to the unit will be provided. We are a recognised neonatal GRID training centre.

We look after a large number of extremely premature infants and those under 1000g birthweight as part of the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Neonatal network. As a neonatal unit we have developed significant expertise in non-invasive neonatal care, pioneering the use of high flow from delivery, birthday cuddles, optimal cord clamping and less invasive surfactant delivery. We undertake the full range of neonatal medical intensive care, including advanced ventilation techniques and therapeutic hypothermia. We encourage all of our trainees to become proficient in cranial ultrasound scanning, and there are opportunities to learn echocardiography from our consultants with cardiology expertise. In addition we are part of the KSS neonatal transport network, and there will be opportunities to take part in the transport rota supporting the stabilisation and movement of babies around the South East with our dedicated service. We are proud to have scored 99% in our Bliss Baby Charter accreditation, and continue to strive for excellent family integrated care, supported by a multidisciplinary team of allied health professionals. We undertake developmental follow up and Bayley clinics. As a unit we are passionate about our involvement in neonatal research, and our trainees regularly contribute to neonatal meetings. We are delighted to have excellent feedback about our unit from trainees, who often wish to come back!

We are current EWT compliant, with a 48 hour working week. All trainees are allocated educational supervisors to support their career development.

St. Peter’s Hospital is based just outside Chertsey in Surrey and close to diverse attractions including theme parks, gardens, historical towns and the Thames. Surrey is a fantastic and family-centred location in which to live and work. There are excellent local schools, shopping, sporting activities, restaurants and bars, which all contribute to a high quality of life. Central London is easily accessible by train. The M25, M3 and M4 are also close by. Heathrow airport is 20 minutes and Gatwick Airport is 30 to 40 minutes by car.
