Lead Alcohol Specialist Nurse NMGH – Band 7

Following receival of funding from NHS England, a great opportunity has arisen to be involved in the creation and establishment of a new Alcohol Care Team at North Manchester General Hospital

The team will consist of this position- Lead Alcohol Nurse Specialist and band 6 Alcohol Specialist nurses, working a 7 day week.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved at the beginning of the service journey, assisting in creation and establishment of pathways and procedures in alignment with the wider trust

You will be expected to Lead the Alcohol Care Team, working autonomously, but also with the Service Lead and wider MDT, liaising with Community substance misuse services and primary care. Providing clinical expertise and knowledge relating to the identification, assessment, treatment, and management of patients attending or admitted to hospital with Alcohol-use Disorders.

The successful applicant will be highly motivated and have excellent communication and time management skills. They will work with the Service Lead to develop the service, improve quality of care and work towards reducing hospital admissions and length of stay

The ability to be able to deliver teaching sessions on Identification and Brief Advice and management of patients with Alcohol-use Disorders is essential to this role
