The Leeds Speech and Swallowing Team are looking for someone to join their committed and enthusiastic team in a B4 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant role.

We are a city-wide community team set up to deliver an equitable response to adults with communication and/or swallowing needs close to their home. We work closely alongside a range of community professionals, including GPs, Community Matrons, Specialist Nurses, Specialist Neurology Services, Dietitians, care homes and home care providers. Our work is diverse and varied. Patient Public Involvement has been an integral part of our service development and has helped to create a culture of continuous improvement.

This assistant role will involve working in a patient centred way to carry out observations, develop resources, support training, model strategies and embed therapeutic interventions for people with communication and swallowing needs. The team has a strong supportive ethos with regular clinical supervision and joint working at its core. We will offer specific training and support to enable the development of a relevant skills and experience for anyone joining us.

We are looking for an innovative, enthusiastic person with experience of working with adults in a health or social care setting. You will have strong communication skills and the ability to adapt these for different tasks and contexts. You will have experience of enabling effective communication for people with communication difficulties. You will understand the benefits of reflective practice and seeking supervision. You will be confident using IT to develop resources. You will be able to demonstrate good time management and the ability to proactively manage your workload, including prioritising a range of tasks and liaising with others to achieve goals in a timely manner. You will be able to demonstrate positive contributions whilst working as part of a team.

This is a full time position but we welcome applications from people who would like to work part time or job share and will look to support flexible working where possible.
