The Role

We have a temporary placement opportunity available for a Quality Assurance Coordinator at Royal Oldham Hospital. They will be providing the following support:

  • To devise and develop draft action plans for presentation to the Medical Education Business Manager and Directors of Medical Education, because of HENW audits and reports, influencing and negotiating with the medical staff to ensure SMART action plans are agreed and implemented for the Trust.
  • Reporting to and supporting the Medical Education Business Manager in the response to requests for information from the Directors of Medical Education.
  • To log receipt of documentation received from HENW, split the report appropriately and forward relevant requests for information to relevant parties, setting appropriate deadlines to ensure the information is then collated centrally collate draft responses, having initially vetted to ensure SMART, before sending to the Medical Education Business Manager and Directors of Medical Education, with the response sent back to HENW within the original overall deadline.
  • To be involved in the process of developing agreed action plans, ensuring completion and sign off by liaison with senior staff at all levels throughout the organisation.
  • Able to work unsupervised and make decisions on how results are best achieved in line with existing policies, procedures and guidelines, with support from the Medical Education Business Manager as required.
  • Accountable for own actions, using own initiative to ensure results are achieved.
  • To collate information from the various departments to ensure completion of the Local Education Provider Master (LEP), ensuring an action plan is sent to HENW, split by overall, Foundation, Speciality Trainee and GP, and ensure completed.
  • Ensure database of the Clinical Trainers own training records is kept up to date and data for HENW regarding Education / Clinical Supervisors’ compliance with GMC standards.
  • Together with the Medical Education Business Manager, plan, support and facilitate workshop style events to address key questions for the Trust in terms of Medical Education. Working with Divisional Directors, Foundation Programme Directors, Clinical Tutors, Directors of Medical Education and Speciality Leads together with other staff and colleagues as appropriate.
  • HENW monitoring visit – request responses from senior medical staff, collate, check SMART action plans and produce in draft for the Medical Education Business Manager, setting deadlines to ensure action plan and response to the visit in timely and effective manner.
  • Maintain accurate calendar of events to ensure the Trust is aware in advance of the requirements of HENW. Planning and proposing suitable actions to ensure we are actively continually improving.
  • To support the compliance with the domains of the GMC.
  • To ensure any recommendations and action plans that are required as a result of interaction with HENW are responded to by agreed deadlines.
  • To negotiate with key stakeholders both internally and externally in ensuring action plans are developed, implemented and reviewed.
  • To attend any relevant forums as required, whether regular or ad hoc meetings as appropriate to the job role both internally with the Trust and externally with key stakeholders at off site locations.
  • To support the Postgraduate Medical Education Team as required by providing late cover for designated events (up to 9pm) by prior negotiation.
  • To meet any reasonable request by management.

 

The skills required are:

  • Computer literacy
  • Familiar with MS Word, Outlook, Excel
  • Ability to use Outlook calendar and mailing/distribution lists
  • Ability to take minutes
  • NHS experience desired but not essential

 

The Royal Oldham is located close to the town centre, and it is easily accessible via both car and public transport. There is on site parking (Fees will apply). It has a on site cafe and restaurant which staff are eligible for a discount. The hospital also has on site shops.
