Children and Young Peoples Winter Vaccination Programme - help protect children from Flu.

Our School Aged Immunisation team will be working to deliver the Winter Vaccination Programme for an extended flu campaign. This is particularly important this year due to the impact of Covid 19.

Hours

This is offered as bank work to support a 3 month programme of work starting in September.

Within this period we can offer flexibility in terms of how many total hours an individual works, but we will need staff who can regularly commit to working during this period and ideally can work complete days. You will need to be able to work predominately from 9am till 4pm on each day that you work at different school sites around Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. You will need to be able to work at least 2 days each week.

These roles will enable one of the biggest public health exercises to children and young people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.(LLR) If you are highly motivated, with a passion and drive to ensure children and young people are protected from disease we would love to hear from you.

The cohort for this exercise is vaccination to of all school age children, from Reception to Year 11. The roles will be predominately working from school sites, although there may be some additional off site activity to help children access these vaccinations.

It is anticipated that these roles will be deployed entirely within the School Aged Immunisation Service. However, there may be occasions where staff are asked to support with other vaccination programmes with the Trust. Being flexible and adapting to this requirement will be an essential requirement.

We are looking for individuals who can work well in a busy environment, keep their cool and can work to actively engage and reassure school aged children being vaccinated. Working with children in this way will require staff who identify strongly with our leadership behaviours of taking personal responsibility, always learning and developing, recognising and valuing peoples’ differences, working together and valuing one another. You will also need to be able to work flexibly and effectively with enthusiasm and compassion to meet the health needs of a diverse community.

Knowledge of immunisations schedules in accordance with national recommendations and having experience of delivering on large scale immunisation programmes would be useful but not essential.

If you do not already have immunisation experience, we still want to hear from you but you must be willing to undertake training for the specific programmes.

We are committed to providing the best care that we can to our patients. Some roles involve a Maths and English assessment. Where this is so, details will be shared with you in the recruitment process.

Details of our benefits, leadership behaviours and other important information about applying and working for us are contained in the documents linked to our advert.

It is a statutory requirement for roles that involve work in care homes that staff are up to date with their Covid vaccination status to be able to work in that environment, unless the person has a valid medical exemption. Where a role requires this, they will need to demonstrate that they meet this requirement during the recruitment process.

For areas where our teams work to staffing rosters, these are set in advance at a team level and you will join an established roster. Your rostered shifts will be confirmed to you when arranging your start date.

We will consider requests to work alternative hours or vary working patterns in line with our flexible working policy.

To make the most of your application, we may consider appointable applicants for similar vacancies in different locations where this is appropriate and meets our mutual requirements.

For all substantive roles the appointment of new staff (excluding medical staff) is subject to a 6 month probationary period (see Probation Policy).

We aim to develop a workforce that reflects our community. We actively implement equal opportunities in employment and service delivery and seek people who share our commitment. We strongly encourage applications from all sections of the community, particularly from underrepresented groups.

All jobs will require permission to work in the UK.

For all jobs the cost of any DBS disclosure required will be met by the individual. This will be deducted from salary once started.

Applicants ‘at risk’ within the local NHS who meet essential criteria will have preference for interview over other candidates who apply for posts.
