Due to the expansion of the paediatric transport education team an exciting opportunity has become available for an, experienced transport nurse to join our paediatric critical care transport services, hosted by the University Hospitals of Leicester.

The CoMET paediatric transport service is a regional transport service covering the East Midlands; The service provides both an acute transfer and repatriation service, as well as offering advice to clinicians throughout the region. The service has two bases, one at Leicester Royal Infirmary and one at Queens medical CenTre Nottingham, we support a regional education programme run in conjunction with the East Midlands Children’s Critical Care Network, as well as a comprehensive training programme for staff working within the service and an outreach programme for our referring hospitals

The successful candidate will be a key member of the team supporting the regional paediatric centres and CoMET, the East Midlands Paediatric Critical Care Transport (PCCT) service particularly in response to the anticipated autumn and winter surge in respiratory infections in children. The post holder will work with the current nurse educator and the East Midlands Children’s Critical Care Network (EMCN) staff. To act as a role model to provide clinical leadership to the nursing and medical team, sharing expert knowledge and supporting in the clinical and transport setting.

To also work in partnership with the Matron and Lead Consultants for CoMET and the practice development teams within the operational area of the Service, being responsible for planning and leading in the implementation of evidence-based, patient-focused practice, provide training programmes for stabilisation and care of critically ill infants and children.

Also key to the role will be maintaining links with institutes of further learning to ensure the ongoing training of transport team members and to be visible and accessible for staff working for CoMET and within the hospitals within the operational area of the Service.
