Following a recent restructure of the Finance and Procurement Directorate, a new role has been created for an enthusiastic Assistant Capital Accountant to support the Financial Services team in delivering its capital agenda.

As one of the largest Trusts, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) has an annual turnover of circa £1 billion and consists of seven Clinical Management Groups (CMGs) and ten Corporate Directorates delivering the full range of acute patient care across three sites. The Assistant Capital Accountant will support and advise the Capital Accountant in providing technical accounting advice to the Trust.

The post holder will provide dedicated support to the Capital Accountant in the production and reporting of the monthly and annual capital expenditure position. The post holder will develop the provision of a capital accounting service to the Trust, ensuring that both transactions undertaken and information provided are accurate, timely and produced to recognised standards. The post has responsibility for developing and maintaining the Trust fixed asset management system on an ongoing basis, ensuring that asset additions, disposals, depreciation, asset revaluations and impairments are accurately reflected at all times to support ‘real’ time reporting of asset valuations, in support of investment decision making and financial reporting. This includes providing capital charges forecasts to support delivery of the in-year financial plan and future capital planning.
