What does being a Bank Healthcare Assistant involve?

  • As a HCA you will support the healthcare team in the delivery of direct patient care to patient. You will work closely with our nurses, allied health professionals and other colleagues.
  • You’ll be joining our team of bank staff who provide cover flexibly across all areas of the Trust. You will work under a flexible zero hour’s bank agreement and can choose from available shifts to fit round your other commitments. Shifts vary and can cover days, nights, weekends and other shifts patterns.
  • Our patients include people of all ages with physical and/or mental disabilities staying both at our sites or at home.
  • Please note that we are NOT recruiting for the 3 main Hospitals in Leicester. If you are looking for work at the Royal, General or Glenfield hospitals, you need to visit University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust website.

Locations

We are currently looking for applicants who can work flexibly across all our locations but in particular would welcome interest from candidates who are able to work in the following areas:

Oakham, Melton Mowbray, Market Harborough, Hinckley, Coalville, Loughborough.

Support and training

On commencement you will attend a Trust induction and undertake mandatory online and socially distanced classroom based training on areas such as basic life support and manual handing. Once you have completed the suite of mandatory training provided you will then be able to access booking onto shifts. Our Centralised Staffing Solutions Team will then be on hand to support you with any queries or bookings to work on our bank.

It is a statutory requirement for roles that involve work in care homes that staff are up to date with their Covid vaccination status to be able to work in that environment, unless the person has a valid medical exemption. Where a role requires this, they will need to demonstrate that they meet this requirement during the recruitment process.

For areas where our teams work to staffing rosters, these are set in advance at a team level and you will join an established roster. Your rostered shifts will be confirmed to you when arranging your start date.

We will consider requests to work alternative hours or vary working patterns in line with our flexible working policy.
