Job Reference: 241-791CD-21

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust
Royal Bolton Hospital, Bolton
£93,735 - £108,075 pa

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust was formed in 2008 and, in 2011, we became an integrated provider with community health services joining the trust. Covering a catchment area that also incorporates parts of Bury, Wigan and Salford, we deliver hospital and community based services from the Royal Bolton Hospital in Farnworth and from 20 health centres across Bolton, to a catchment population of 320,000 people. We have a CQC rating as good overall and we have some key areas of outstanding practice with an outstanding rating for being well led at every level.

Buildings, names and models of care have changed over the centuries, but one thing has remained constant and is prevalent among our 5,900+ staff members: the enduring commitment to providing the best health and care for the people of Bolton.

At Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, we are a major provider of hospital and community health services in the North West of Greater Manchester. We deliver acute services from the Royal Bolton Hospital and provide community services from a range of locations across Bolton. We are rated by our regulator the Care Quality Commission as ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ for the ‘well led’ domain. We have an opportunity for you to join that outstanding leadership team and work alongside our truly wonderful staff and teams.

We are seeking applications for the position of Director of Operations to replace our current Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Rae Wheatcroft, who will be moving into the role of Chief Operating Officer at the start of January 2022. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this is a vital role with responsibility for the leadership and management of all clinical operations; including the line management of our five Divisional Directors of Operations, and the development of sustainable, high performing services to deliver both local and national standards.

We are looking to appoint an experienced NHS leader with operational management experience who can help us on continue our journey of service and patient care improvements. You will possess a strong track record of leading services and staff to provide world class clinical services, and developing innovative ways of working across professions and boundaries.

We know we can provide you with a great place to work, alongside fantastic teams who are all pulling together to give the people of Bolton the very best care possible. We have a unique family feel here in the Trust and this has been recently evidenced by our staff telling us, through the NHS Staff Survey, that we are the best place to work in Greater Manchester. We are so proud of this and it is so wonderful that our staff feel this way, especially in the midst of one of the biggest challenges we have ever faced.

Our response to COVID-19 continues and we are incredibly proud of the way our staff have risen to the challenge at such a difficult time. This hasn’t stopped us from moving forward with our recovery plans to ensure that our patients, who have been waiting for services, get the care they deserve as quickly as possible. We are also working hard to ensure our services and plans for winter are as robust as possible.

This is a truly exciting time for the Trust as we have recently outlined our ambitious plans for a new hospital alongside our recent significant investment in our estate, services, and IT. We are also at the forefront of true partnership working with colleagues in primary care, social care, and the third sector across Bolton; evidenced by the Bolton Integrated Care Partnership. You will play an integral role in moving all this work forward.

We are committed to your development and we will ensure you are supported to be the best you can be in this role, and in your career going forward.

So, if you are someone with the skills and abilities, and drive to develop our services for the benefit of our patients, and have the inclusive leadership style to develop our people and teams, then our organisation is the place for you.

Please also take a look at the accompanying pack which will tell you a little more about the Trust.
