Due to promotion of the existing post holder, an opportunity has arisen for the position of a Band 6 Haematology Specialist Nurse to work as a member of our established Haematology Team at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

We are seeking an experienced registered nurse with specialist knowledge and skills in the management of patients with haematological cancers to join our team of clinical nurse specialists. As an autonomous practitioner you will have an opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge to contribute to the busy and diverse haematology services.

You will be supported by highly experienced Clinical Nurse Specialists in the care and management of patients diagnosed with lymphoma, myeloma and MGUS by supporting patients and their family through their cancer pathway. This will include participating in MDT, in-patient reviews, consultant outpatient clinics, nurse led clinics including holistic needs assessments and treatment monitoring reviews. An integral part of the role includes managing the psychosocial needs of the patients and their families or carers, as they face the challenge of their diagnosis.

This is a challenging role and you will need to have excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills and the ability to foster good working relationships, offering care in a kind and compassionate manner.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced nurse with the ability to work autonomously with support from the multi-disciplinary team. You will be able to demonstrate recent experience of caring for patients with cancer and an understanding of current treatment modalities associated with haematological cancers and the complexities involved in caring for this group of patients.

The team is focused on changing services to enhance the delivery of patient care.

You would be supported both clinically and in personal education needs.
