University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is one of the largest teaching hospitals in Europe employing more than 6,500 staff. As a tertiary referral centre we offer a wide range of clinical specialities to the population we serve. We provide a wide range of acute and general hospital services including oncology and radiotherapy, paediatrics, neurosciences and cardiothoracics. The emergency department is designated as a major trauma centre for the Peninsula. As a result, radiographers at Derriford undertake a very comprehensive range of examinations within their given area of practice; this makes it a very interesting and rewarding place to work. The imaging department takes student Radiographers from the University of Exeter and University of Plymouth, and is a training site for Radiologists based at the Peninsula Radiology Academy, close to the Hospital. The imaging department has a comprehensive range of diagnostic imaging modalities including, plain film, CT, MRI, ultrasound,interventional radiology, cardiac cath labs, fluoroscopy as well as providing imaging services at peripheral sites.

We currently have the following vacancy:

Cardiac Catheter Laboratory Radiographer Band 6

Full time

The successful candidate for this specialist radiographer post will be expected to have proven experience or interest in cardiac imaging. We currently have two Phillips Allura Xper FD10 Cardiac Cath labs. The radiographers also cover Pacing theatre, using a GE OEC 9800 Cardiac. There will be rotation into the general x-ray department and an on call commitment to the specialty. Currently, there are weekend ACS lists with the future possibility of extended days.

We are committed to providing increased opportunities to gain more experience in specialist areas. There is a CPD calendar with active participation from Imaging staff, and we support and encourage radiographers in their career development. The department currently takes student radiographers from Universities of Exeter and Plymouth, and is a training site for Radiologists. We also have Assistant Practitioners in post and are committed to developing the 4 tier structure. All post holders will be expected to work flexible shifts to cover the needs of the service.
