Occupational Therapist

Band 5 / 6 Based on experince

37.5 hours/week

Rharian Fields Specialist eating Disorder Unit offers a multi-disciplinary and comprehensive provision to individuals suffering from complex eating disorders.  We provide specialist treatment plans designed to meet the needs of the individual based on clinical expertise and good practice determined by NICE Guidelines 2017.


Rharian Fields currently comprises of 5 commissioned beds and 3 non commissioned beds however we are in the process of increasing our commissioned beds.  We currently provided services for adults from 17 years and cater for both male and female service users.  We accept clients detained under the Mental Health Act and those requiring nasogastric feeding.


We are looking for a kind, caring and compassionate individual who is highly motivated and dedicated to working with service users with complex eating disorders.  The successful applicant must be able to work to strict boundaries and adhere to comprehensive care plans that are put in place to promote the wellbeing and recovery of our service users. 


You must be an excellent team player but also have the ability to work autonomously with our service users under supervision of senior staff members if needed.  You must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills that allow you to build and maintain professional working relationships with services users and the wider multi-disciplinary team.


Your role will require you to deliver an effective, evidence based occupational therapy (OT) service to service users diagnosed with an eating disorder both within the acute and community-based services.  You will be responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating OT care plans using a person-centred approach.  As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be involved in liaising and effectively communicating with all relevant parties including GP’s and carers to promote innovative and creative ways of working with service users/carers with complex mental health needs.


This position will provide the successful applicant with a wonderful working environment and immense job satisfaction.  You will learn a range of knowledge and skills to support the treatment and recovery of service users with complex eating disorders. 


All positions are subject to the receipt of satisfactory references and medical clearance. Evidence of valid professional registration and appropriate DBS clearances will also be required where relevant. All posts will also be subject to successful completion of a 12 week probationary period.
