This post brings together the highly specialist knowledge and skills required to maintain the required Data Protection Officer role alongside the traditional Head of Information Governance role and will have responsibility for a variety of activities including servicing the Trusts Information Governance Board, the production of the Information Governance Toolkit and responding to Subject Access and Freedom of Information requests and records management.

Working flexibly, your base will be at out Trust headquarters just a mile or so outside Leeds city centre but you will want to be working closely with Trust staff throughout the city and in the services we operate throughout Yorkshire and the Humber.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the role of the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) ensuring that the information security requirements detailed in the Information Governance Assurance Framework are reviewed, documented, implemented and, where necessary actioned in the case of any security breach forming a Serious Incident Requiring Investigation (SIRI).
  • To act as a central and reporting point to the SIRO through the Information Governance Group.
  • To function as the Data Protection Officer (DPO) as defined under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016.
  • To act as deputy to the Caldicott Guardian ensuring that the Trust has a managed and co-ordinated standard based approach to GDPR, Information Governance and the Caldicott Function

Given the seniority of this role you can expect to spend significant time working with the senior leadership team of the Trust however due to the complexity and breadth of clinical services which the Trust provides, you can also expect to be working alongside almost anyone from our clinical service teams.

We are looking for a leader. An expert leader in the field of Information Governance to ensure information governance remains embedded across the Trust in all that we do.

To reflect the importance we place in this role you will report directly to an executive director of the Trust.

Most importantly, you will know what needs to be achieved and will work autonomously across a diverse range of community based clinical services to achieve it. It's a given that you have an extensive knowledge of information governance. It is essential that you have the personal qualities, the communication skills and the flexibility of approach to work with clinical and managerial colleagues who may not see information governance as their top priority.

Key Skills Required:

  • Ability to analyse complex information requiring interpretation in order to meet the service requirement
  • Effective interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to produce clear concise communications
  • Ability to provide contentious information to staff groups and to communicate business sensitive information to internal staff
  • Competent and skilled in the use of software packages in order to collect and interpret data, present reports and compile simple presentations
  • Ability to work without direct supervision, prioritising work and acting on own initiative where appropriate; pre-empting problems and working to solve them in an appropriate manner.
  • Demonstrates leadership in everyday practice

Qualifications Required:

  • Master’s Degree or first degree and significant equivalent Information Governance experience.
