JOB SUMMARY:

Oldham Right Start and School Nursing, 0-19 service is provided by Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

We have an exciting opportunity for motivated Public Health Nurses to join our integrated team.

As the Specialist Practitioner, you will manage a defined caseload, using a public health approach to provide and maintain a high quality service that promotes the physical and mental health of the school aged population and their families.

 

The role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to be adaptable, reliable and highly organised. Effective prioritisation skills and caseload management are essential to the role.

As the Specialist Practitioner you will:

Lead the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme 5-19 and co-ordinate the delivery of public health interventions for your assigned schools under the direction of the Team Leader. This will include immunisations, health screening/surveillance, health assessment and a requirement to support the health needs of any vulnerable children/young people within the caseload.

Work in collaboration with partnership agencies to address the needs of vulnerable children/young people including those on child protection plans.

Delegate work to members of the multi-skilled school nursing team, ensuring oversight of the care delivered and supervision to team members.

Have line management responsibility for members of the multi-skilled team, including performance review, supervision and personal development planning.

Deputising for the Team Leader as required and support innovative service developments across School Nursing.

The Trust has taken the decision to recharge successful candidates for the cost of their DBS disclosure. This post requires a(n) Enhanced / Standard DBS disclosure. The current price of this is £48.43/£30.43. The Trust will pay the initial costs, which will be recovered, in installments, from your first three salary payments.
