On 1st April 2020, North Manchester General Hospital became part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) under a new management agreement.

North Manchester General Hospital has a vibrant future ahead as it works with MFT to provide better care for patients and their families in the local community and across Greater Manchester. Plans to create an innovative health campus which will see a new hospital build and the development of a ‘wellbeing hub’ that will bring health and economic benefits to the wider community.

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Director of Clinical Governance & Patient Experience at North Manchester General Hospital to support the Director of Nursing and Medical Director by leading a broad clinical governance and patient experience portfolio.

Working closely with the Hospital Senior Leadership Team you will provide leadership support and advice on governance matters and ensuring that the Hospital governance activity meets the standards set by group and external regulation.

 

We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic individual who has an expert knowledge and experience of clinical governance systems within an acute hospital setting, someone who is passionate about delivering the best and safest patient care, who can provide leadership and strategic direction for all clinical departments across the Hospital particularly whilst undergoing complex change. You’ll be expected to utilise expert knowledge to ensure effective, robust working relationships with senior management and clinical colleagues both within MFT and external to the Trust.

You’ll be proactive and positive; have a proven track record of quality improvement, display excellent communication skills, be passionate about making a difference to both patients and staff and be able to evidence involvement in high impact change and delivery of key outcomes. As a key member of the senior leadership and management team, you’ll contribute to the future strategic direction of the Hospital and will ensure that service needs and patient experience are met to the high standards

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To be the Hospital Lead on clinical governance and patient experience providing specialist advice at all levels including the provision of Hospital Board papers and reports
  2. To provide a full managerial support service directly to the Medical Director and Director of Nursing in relation to Clinical Governance, to include, in conjunction with senior colleagues, the compilation of work programmes, action plans and performance management systems for the Hospital.
  3. To ensure, in conjunction with Medical Director and Director of Nursing, Divisional Directors and Leads in Clinical Governance, that the processes and structures to facilitate clinical governance are established and operational within the Hospital.
  4. Work with Medical Clinical Governance Lead to implement of Trust’s Clinical Governance Strategy within the Hospital, ensuring that common approaches to key clinical standards are consistent across the Hospital.
  5. Lead manage and co-ordinate Hospital integrated governance systems which deliver compliance with all relevant external standards and requirements including those of the Care Quality Commission, NHS Improvement, NHS England and Human Tissue Act.
  6. Develop and implement the Hospital processes within the Divisions for the management and response to complaints, PHSO and CQC enquires which meets the statutory requirements and ensures that the Medical Director and Director of Nursing are briefed on themes and concerns.
  7. Review and collate evidence for the primary regulatory frameworks, to include CQC core services and KLOE.
