An exciting opportunity has arisen to work on the Maternity unit at the Leicester hospitals, the community and St Mary’s standalone Birth Centre Melton

Leicester is an exciting, vibrant, multicultural city of culture. 

We have vacancies for Band 6 Midwives.

Leicester is a nationally recognised teaching hospital.
We also have excellent links with De Montfort University and the University of Leicester.

We have  alongside midwife led Birth Centres at each hospital site, that are recognised as the top 3 national birth centres for providing care to a high proportion of low risk women.

We have a standalone Midwife led unit at Melton Mowbray.

There is a Homebirth Team that caseload women requesting home births.

We have a small number of “continuity of carer” models in line with The Better Births Initiative. We are working towards increasing our Continuity teams and will be encouraging teams for women from BAME backgrounds and poor socio/economic groups.

We have an Enhanced care package for Elective Caesarians for women to be discharged home at 24 hours post -surgery.

There is a level 3 Neonatal Unit and regional Neonatal Heart Specialists.

We have a number of Specialist Midwives who support the Midwives and women with complex needs to ensure a holistic and safe approach to child bearing.

The posts are rotational and there are opportunities to be a core member in all areas and Deputy Manager, Student Link, Infection Prevention and Specialist champions’ roles.

There are exciting opportunities for promotion and career development; we have a Band 7 midwife co-ordinator learning package for midwives that want to develop the midwife role on Delivery suite.

We have a management team dedicated to ensure that you will fulfil your potential and enhance your midwifery skills.

We have responsive ongoing support from our clinical education team, who provide mandatory training and other learning packages.
