An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Financial Accountant to join the Finance and Procurement Directorate of University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL). The post holder will support the technical financial accounting and tax functions including the provision of financial services to the Trust’s subsidiary companies.

The successful candidate will support the Senior Financial Accountant mainly, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Lead the technical team ensuring all accounting transactions are treated in accordance with latest professional accounting standards, including control reconciliations to the highest level and interpreting control account reconciliation results.
  • Maintain the integrity of the trial balance and balance sheet on a monthly basis, ensuring the ledger is in balance for reporting purposes and understand the inter-relationship between I&E and the balance sheet.
  • Take strategic responsibility for the provision of a proactive advice service for VAT and employment tax matters, including the payment of Tax and National Insurance. This will also involve resolving complex errors within the Trust and working with the HMRC, pension agency and external advisors where necessary.
  • Play a major role in ensuring the Trust’s & related organisations’ Annual Accounts and Financial Returns are completed in a timely and accurate manner

You will be managing a diverse team and as an experienced leader, you must demonstrate your ability to lead from the front, growing a team and culture that aligns to the Trust’s strategic aims and priorities.

To be considered for this role, you will be a qualified accountant and have a track record of delivery within a large and highly complex organisation.
