Situated in the rural coastal beauty of North Devon dubbed ‘England’s Adventure Coast’, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Physiotherapist to join the expanding Medical Rehabilitation Team. This rotational post will be based across our South Molton Community Hospital and North Devon District Hospital sites respectively.

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and well organised individual with the requisite skills that allow them to deliver excellent care and evidence-based interventions. Main Duties

This is a substantive, full time rotational post that is primarily inpatient based across our two rehabilitation wards of ‘Fortescue’ and ‘Hugh Squire’ that specialise in treating frail patients. Fortescue has been designed to meet the specific needs of patients who have dementia or cognitive impairments.

The role will also require the successful candidate to contribute to a discharge to assess model of working and will therefore entail a degree of community working and have a good knowledge in the assessment and management of frailty. The post requires the individual to demonstrate effective communication across the multidisciplinary team in the acute and community settings.

The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust (RD&E) and Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust (NDHT) are planning to formally join together in April 2022; subject to the necessary approvals from our Board, Governors and regulatory authorities. Over the last few years we have made good progress by working more closely together to tackle our shared challenges. However, both organisations believe that combining our strengths into a single organisation will put us in a stronger position to offer high quality, resilient services to the people of Devon now and in the future. Further information regarding the proposed NDHT and RD&E integration is available on each of the Trust websites.

Our values guide everything we do. At all times, we aim to:

  • Demonstrate compassion
  • Strive for excellence
  • Respect diversity
  • Act with integrity
  • Listen and support others

Our teams of care professionals work with patients and their families to support peoples’ independence, health and wellbeing. We provide support to avoid hospital admissions, and if an admission is necessary, we try to make each patient’s stay in hospital as short and effective as possible before working with them on a safe discharge home.

In our most recent staff survey, our staff voted us in the top 10% of NHS provider organisations to work for and we also came out as the top provider in the South West for our overall results. Our patients (through the Friends and Family Test) regularly report an average of over 95% satisfaction with our services.

Please note that we may close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applicants.
