Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has been at the forefront of Digital Pathology research and innovation for over 15 years. A £17m initiative funded by the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, the Northern Pathology Imaging Co-operative (NPIC) followed by further £20m funding for a national expansion, National Pathology Imaging Co-operative, builds on that advanced starting position, uniting a consortium of academic, clinical and industry partners with a common vision - to create a world-leading centre for digital pathology and artificial intelligence (AI) on which a UK industrial sector can grow and thrive.

 

The post holder will work closely with the Programme Manager and Systems Lead within the NPIC Programme team; and system users, clinicians, senior managers, local informatics teams across various NHS Trusts, and key industry suppliers. You will be responsible for the successful implementation of IT systems, the on-going day-to-day management of the systems, and successful implementation of future system developments within the Digital Pathology portfolio of work.

 

You will be an enthusiastic person, with strong problem-solving skills and an ability to analyse and investigate system problems and propose optimal solutions. You will play an active role in making recommendations for improving the IT Systems and solutions and become an ‘expert user’ of the NPIC solution sharing your own knowledge to help others, demonstrating effective inter-personal skills in order to communicate and engage with all levels and disciplines of personnel with regards to the implementation, and on-going support of the NPIC solution with a purpose to improve care for patients. You will be willing to work flexibly with a wide range of stakeholders in a challenging operational environment; you must have exceptionally strong attention to detail and a willingness to work around the needs of the team and organisation. You will be working on cutting-edge, innovative developments that will deliver real change for staff and patients.

 

The post-holder will be a self-motivated, tenacious individual, with extensive demonstrable experience of managing IT systems, creating and maintaining system documentation and demonstrate a commitment to administering IT systems that support optimal clinical & administrative pathways. You will have the ability to work without supervision to tight deadlines. You will be a team player with a ‘can do attitude’, helping to deliver on an exciting and diverse work portfolio.

This post is initially fixed term until 31st January 2023 with an opportunity to extend (subject to funding).

The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £48 or Standard £30) from your salary over a 3 month period (including Internal staff). You will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £13 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment. DBS checks for volunteers are free.
