The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is a world-leading cancer centre. Our role is to offer our patients the best cancer care available anywhere in the world, and to continue to make a global contribution to finding better ways of diagnosing and treating cancer. We employ over 3,900 staff in a diverse range of careers including nursing, medical, science, radiography, pharmacy, occupational therapy, finance and administrative services. We have two hospitals – one in Chelsea, London, and one in Sutton, Surrey – as well as a Medical Daycare Unit in Kingston Hospital

At The Royal Marsden, we deal with cancer every day, so we understand how valuable life is. When people entrust their lives to us, they have the right to demand the very best. That's why the pursuit of excellence lies at the heart of everything we do.

At the heart of the hospital is our dedicated team. We offer a stimulating and dynamic working environment, a wide range of staff benefits and learning and development opportunities. We are looking for employees who aspire to excellence, share our values and can play a crucial role in our on-going achievements.

As part of the Royal Marsden’s Digital Transformation Programme, we are seeking to implement a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR). Work has been ongoing to explore the options for procuring a new Digital Health Record (DHR).

Referred to as the Digital Health Record (DHR), the DHR will be implemented across the Trust. From quicker access to patient records, to improved availability of documentation, and a patient portal, the new system will significantly improve patient outcomes, safety and experience. It will also give us more access to accurate real-time health information at our fingertips, which will enhance our existing life-saving research capabilities.

This is an exciting time to join the team and to be supported by the Trust to gain an EPR qualification.

The analyst position will involve building and maintaining the Epic lab module to meet the requirements of the Trust laboratories. Your understanding of the laboratory environment and workflows will be key to being successful in the post. As such we suggest applying if you have experience as (or positions similar to) Biomedical Scientist, Clinical Scientist, Lab Information Systems administrator/manager.

You will be responsible for logging issues as they arise and update administration systems accordingly. Additionally, you will be analysing and suggesting ways to improve current workflows and working practices. Therefore, you will need attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to communicate with staff at all levels in the organisation, including clinical staff, managerial staff as well as with the EPR team, our partners at GOSH and with our EPR supplier Epic.

Post-pandemic our team will continue to work flexibly with a combination of remote and office based working days

We will provide an opportunity for you to undertake an aptitude test as the first stage of the application process. The test is a great way to ensure you would be successful in passing the Epic Certification and excel in this role.

Flu Vaccination – What We Expect of our Staff

The Trust is committed to developing and delivering excellent customer focused service by treating patients, their families, friends, carers and staff with professionalism respect and dignity.

At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.

The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.

Due to the high volumes of applications we receive, we reserve the right to close any adverts before the published closing date once we have received a sufficient number of applications. We advise you to submit your application as early as possible to prevent disappointment. If you have not heard from us within two weeks of the closing date, then please assume you have not been short-listed for interview on this particular occasion.
