Your duties will include:
• conducting comprehensive assessments to identify and implement care plans and appropriate interventions in custody, court and community settings
• providing advice and guidance to custody staff regarding the care of the detainee whilst in police custody referring to other services as appropriate
• supervise junior members of the team
• shift co-ordination tasks

The post holders will be required to work from Hull and Grimsby custody suites and across the region. Operating hours will be 8am to 6pm, Monday - Friday, 8am-4.30pm on the weekend. Staff will be required to work a 6 week shift pattern which covers the opening hours.

Who are you?

You will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, with a critical understanding of detailed theoretical and practical knowledge, are specialist and/or have management and leadership responsibilities. Demonstrate initiative and are creative in finding solutions to problems. Some responsibility for team performance and service development and consistently undertake self- development. A depth of knowledge and understanding which enables the post holder to perform at a high level of practice, take a leadership role, use and develop evidence to inform their practice, and deal with complex, unpredictable environments.

They will have their own caseload or work area responsibilities and responsibility for oversight of the team clinical caseload. A professional qualification and/or significant experience of working with people, particularly people with vulnerabilities in the justice system, plus a qualification in a relevant field.

You are flexible, in order to deal with a wide variety of presenting conditions in multiple situations and bases, and able to work under pressure and in a challenging and fast-paced environment.

You will be dynamic, innovative, and committed to delivering a safe and effective service and a high standard of healthcare. As you'll be working with non-NHS professionals within your suite as well as colleagues across the region, highly effective communication skills are a must. And you're empowered by working independently but able to maintain a sense of team and your professional identity.

You will have extensive experience of working in a relevant specialty substance misuse services, prison healthcare or mental health liaison service in an A&E or secure unit, Probation or Youth offending service. We consider each applicant’s experience on an individual basis.

The successful candidate must be able to work well under pressure, supervise junior members of the team, manage a caseload and have excellent communication skills. You will be actively involved in service and self-development.

This role requires full police vetting, and it is essential that you can travel independently across the area and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.

The level of check required is dependent upon the position that you have applied for. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost from your salary. There will be no charge if you are enrolled in the DBS Update Service.
