Specialist in Special Care Dentistry – Band C

We are looking for a dynamic Specialist in Special Care Dentistry to support our experienced and highly motivated salaried dental team within Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust, an innovative Trust that is consistently ranked top in the country for staff satisfaction.

You will thrive on providing the highest standard of comprehensive dental care to adults and children with special needs, and will work in partnership with the Lead Dentist and Senior Manager to help shape the further development of the Special Care Dental Service.

You will act as a role model and be passionate about promoting a culture of quality, innovation, productivity, and preventative care.

The Devon Salaried Dental Service operates within 7 locations based across Exeter, East, Mid and North Devon and incorporates five broad work streams including; special care, general anaesthesia and sedation, urgent care, oral surgery, oral health promotion and oral screening and epidemiology.

Although the real benefits come from the opportunity to make a real difference to the community, the opportunity to shape and develop the service and having time to care for your patients, we also offer an excellent remuneration package to recognise the contribution that you’ll be making.

This post is offered on a full-time basis however, we are also interested in less conventional approaches that may support the service whilst giving you flexibility around hours.

Devon is consistently voted as one of the best places to live in England and residents enjoy a high quality of life. Our natural outdoor playground, along with modern shopping centres, cafes, bistros and restaurants, offers you the chance for a fantastic work-life balance.

Our medical staffing team will help you get settled, providing financial relocation support, registration for children at one of the excellent local schools and support for partners seeking employment.

For further details please contact Matt Heming, Clinical Lead, email: Matthew.heming@nhs.net or tel.: 07850 087080.

Our values guide everything we do. At all times, we aim to:

  • Demonstrate compassion
  • Strive for excellence
  • Respect diversity
  • Act with integrity
  • Listen and support others

Our teams of care professionals work with patients and their families to support peoples’ independence, health and wellbeing. We provide support to avoid hospital admissions, and if an admission is necessary, we try to make each patient’s stay in hospital as short and effective as possible before working with them on a safe discharge home.

According to many clinical targets, we rate as one of the best performing non-foundation trusts in England, because we treat patients in line with national waiting time standards, have very few hospital-acquired infections and meet our four-hour waiting times for urgent care. We have a huge range of clinical expertise that we share across professional spheres to ensure people get world-class care when they need it.

In our most recent staff survey, our staff voted us in the top 10% of NHS provider organisations to work for and we also came out as the top provider in the South West for our overall results. Our patients (through the Friends and Family Test) regularly report an average of over 95% satisfaction with our services.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. For further information and to self-assess the likelihood of obtaining a Certificate of Sponsorship, please visit the UK Border Agency website. Note: we will be unable to obtain Tier 2 sponsorship for Bank positions.

Please note that we may close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applicants.
