University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust 379
Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton

About our Trust

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is a newly formed organisation following a merger between Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WSHFT) and Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Trust (BSUH) on 1st April 2021. WSHFT and BSUH have been working in partnership with a shared leadership team for four years leading up to the recent merger. Our vision (Excellent care, every time - "Where better never stops") is at the heart of all that that we do - we pride ourselves in putting the compassionate care of patients first and foremost. WSHFT became the first non-specialist acute hospital trust to be awarded Outstanding in all of the CQC’s key inspection areas and BSUH became the fastest improving acute hospital trust in England and was rated Good overall and Outstanding for caring by the CQC. Moving forward together, the ambition is to continue improving and providing excellent care, every time, for patients.

The merger was a technical but important process for both WSHFT and BSUH which will ensure that the right leadership, structures, and governance are in place. Our journey has started but we have much still to learn as we work towards full merger, enabled by our Patient First ethos which shapes our values and gives structure to our improvement and performance management. Our shared sense of purpose, commitment to investing in and developing our workforce and focus on continuous improvement in the pursuit of excellent care, every time, for our patients underpins all that we do. The largest part of this journey is investing in staff and creating a vibrant and supportive organisation where successful careers flourish.

We are currently transforming the way in which we deliver healthcare in the Emergency, Acute, Urgent Care and Ambulatory Departments to align with our vision as an organisation of becoming an Outstanding Trust delivering excellent healthcare.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join us in the Emergency Department to lead a team of Advanced Clinical Practitioners and Trainee ACP’s within Emergency and Urgent Care and to enable them to be fit for the future as we move into our redevelopment phase of the ED and Acute floor.

The Lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner will work collaboratively with the departmental Clinical Lead, Matrons, Lead ENP and Divisional Lead Nurse to ensure that all pathways of care and the department’s refurbishment plans are safely delivered. We will support you to develop your professional leadership skills in a department that has a new dynamic leadership team who are growing together for greater effectiveness and patient outcome.

We are looking for someone with a proven track record in quality, safety and leadership within Emergency and Urgent Care and a clear focus on the development and sustainability of services both from a safety, quality, outcomes and experience perspective. You will have a clear vision and passion for service change, delivery and transformation. Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Emergency Department/Major trauma care.

You will need to be a strong communicator to deliver change in an engaging way and articulate our vision of becoming an outstanding Trust, delivering excellent healthcare in our hospitals for a truly transformed future state to challenge the traditional systems and ways of thinking. This will enable us to build a service providing excellent quality care to our local community in which we serve

If you’re ready for a challenge and the chance to work in the cosmopolitan city of Brighton and Hove and the beautiful countryside of Haywards Heath then this could be the job for you.
