Ward Manager for an innovative and bespoke service for women with Learning Disability

ASD & Learning Disabilities, Northampton

Full Time

Across the secure network there are individuals who are typically long-stay inpatients, who do not tolerate busy ward environments.  This leads to behaviour that challenges, and within existing services often results in long-term segregation.  In response to an urgent requirement for an alternative provision of care, St Andrew’s have collaborated with NHSE to develop a bespoke enhanced medium secure ward for women with Learning Disability ( ‘women with complex mental and physical health needs who have an additional LD diagnosis’). The aim is to improve patient outcomes and quality of life by facilitating the recovery of our patients and maximise their wellbeing by stabilising their mental state, identifying and building up on their strengths to achieve their full potential, and facilitate their reintegration to community by supporting their community teams to tailor an individual and person-centred community care plan for them.
