We are seeking a Physician Associate, who would be dedicated and passionate in helping us to provide outstanding and exemplary care for frail older patients in the South West.

Following development of our Frailty strategy and the recent recruitment of six geriatricians within the last year, this is a very exciting time to work within a progressive, dynamic and rapidly expanding department.

The Physician Associate is a key position to support our busy team of consultants, junior doctors and nursing staff and therapists within Medicine for Older people. The post holder must hold a science-related degree prior to graduating from an established UK Physician Associate Training programme, which follows the Department of Health’s Competence Curriculum Framework, has successfully passed the UK National Physician Associate Examination and is registered with the Managed Voluntary Register for Physician Associates. Consideration will be given to appropriately qualified Physician Associates from other countries as well. This is an innovative idea to give newly qualified or more experienced Physician Associates the chance to put into practice the knowledge and skills they have acquired in their training.

It is expected that the Physician Associate will become involved in the activities of the Department, including review of inpatients within our Acute Frailty unit, complex wards and outpatient clinics. It would be envisaged that the role would be developed flexibly over time in accordance with the appointee’s ability and interests. The posts would suit Physician Associates looking to work in a very exciting, very rewarding but demanding environment. Quick thinking, flexible and thorough professionals will find the post to their liking. The successful candidate will have support from ta team of Physician Associates already working within the Medicine Division.
