About the role

This strategic lead role for mental health adult social care will play a pivotal role in providing adult social care leadership and transformation within the existing integrated partnerships between Greater Manchester Mental Health and Pennine Care Foundation Trust mental health trusts and local authorities in Greater Manchester. They will drive transformation and continuous improvement in the delivery of delegated statutory duties to give assurance on compliance with the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and other associated legislation. They will also monitor and oversee the outcomes of the Social Work for Better Mental Health programmes, where these have been completed, and ensure delivery of the recommendations and actions.


The post holder will also play a key role in the Community Mental Health Services transformation and the Crisis Agenda, working closely with trust colleagues and other partners to ensure that mental health social care is a strong partner in the development of place-based new models of care and promotes a social perspective.

We are recruiting two Strategic Leads for Mental Health Adult Social Care, to work together under the leadership of the Lead DASS for Mental Health in Greater Manchester.

About you

You will be an experienced leader in social care and hold a relevant leadership/management qualification.


You will have extensive knowledge and a significant understanding of the key issues relevant to the Service, legislation and case law related to Mental Health and Adult Social Care. You will have previous knowledge/experience of Adult Social Care, social work, strategic planning and implementation, policy development and management.

You will have experience of working with Executives and Board members on complex strategic issues. You will have a proven record of success in leading and championing organisational and cultural change. Your collaboration skills will build strong relationships and connectivity across systems.
