Healthcare Assistant- Night shifts- Medium Secure

Salary: From £17,718 plus enhancements(From £19,700 inclusive of enhancements based on standard shifts)

Full time - 37.5 hours per week (Shifts are 7.30am – 7.45pm, working 7 days over 14)

The first two weeks will be day shifts as a training requirement, then will permanent night shifts.

About us

Your role would be in our Medium Secure Division that provides care for male and female patients in William Wake House and Fitzroy House. You will be part of a large nursing and clinical team providing treatment and support for patients in their recovery journey.

Our patients require a medium secure level of restriction to help them manage their risk behaviours to keep them and others safe.

We have three wards for female patients and five wards for male patients. Our female wards provide a blended service where patients come to us for acute clinical care and then work though their recovery to eventually discharge to the community.

We have a wide profile of patients on our male wards as our wards have specialist care. Our wards include; a deaf ward, older adults, acquired brain injury, working age males.

About you

As a HCA, you'll be under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional, usually a nurse, and work with doctors, psychologists and a range of other healthcare professionals. The main contact you'll have, though, is with the people in our care.

To be a Healthcare Assistant in mental health care, you'll need to be:

  • Resilient
  • Caring and kind
  • Cheerful and friendly
  • Willing to do personal care tasks (washing, toileting, etc.) in some areas

You'll also need:

  • Communication and listening skills
  • Organisational skills
  • Observational skills

The role can be quite active and we would therefore require you to be able to cope with the demands of an active post.
