BDCFT is looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Band 7 Advanced Nurse Practitioners to help build and clinically lead a team of trained and competent professionals in Acute Liaison Psychiatry Services, who will deliver a timely and compassionate assessment which effectively sign posts service users with mental health issues, presenting in local general hospitals.

 

BDCFT has run a successful, small team of Mental Health nurses for many years within the Emergency Departments at Airedale General Hospital and Bradford Royal Infirmary. This role will be to help manage the extra resources commissioned in line with the national CORE 24 guidance to build on the teams already considerable attributes, to deliver an effective 24 hours a day Multi-Disciplinary service. A key aim of the team is to readdress the imbalance present between the services offered to those with Mental Health issues and those with Physical Health problems.

 

The successful applicant will need to be an expert in the clinical management of those in mental health crisis and relapse. They will also be an excellent negotiator, able to work within a General Hospital environment, respecting their views and methods, while simultaneously promoting Mental Health and collaborative working. In addition, close relationships and partnership working will be essential with other key stake holders such as the Voluntary Care Sector, Local Authority, Blue light services and above all the service users and their families.

 

Other key areas of work that the applicant will need to focus on are, trauma informed care, ensuring older adults receive an equitable service, creating safe and inclusive pathways for the intoxicated service user, a focus on the increased risks for Perinatal service users and linking in to key services to counter the impact of social deprivation.

 

The Bradford and Airedale districts are eclectic and multi-cultural, the successful applicant will fully appreciate this and champion non-judgmental views which are factored into their decision making and planning.

 

The role will be to effectively implement all the above, maintaining high levels of care, clinical leadership and will require a pragmatic, focused, and committed individual.
