We are inviting applications for the post of Band 5 Nurse within Kirklees Intensive Support Team (IST). Kirklees IST is part of the Kirklees Adult Community Learning Disability Health Team, which is a multi-disciplinary team that provides specialist support to both individuals and their wider support networks. The team work agilely and covers the whole of the Kirklees geographical area. The administrative base is in Dewsbury.

Kirklees IST works proactively and intensively with a small number of clients, aiming to reduce hospital admissions and placement breakdowns. We are a dynamic, responsive, and supportive team. Interest or experience in working within a positive behavioral support model with individuals with learning disabilities that can communicate a high degree of behavioural distress or behaviour which challenges others is essential.

We are looking for suitably qualified candidates (RNLD) who demonstrate a positive attitude and commitment to promoting a high quality of life for people with learning disabilities. We are looking for an individual who is confident working using their own initiative with people who present with a range of complex needs and who is passionate about supporting people with learning disabilities to live well in their community, supporting the Transforming Care agenda.

We will accept applications from newly qualified Learning Disability Nurses or those due to qualify within 2 months of the interview date. Kirklees IST can offer a preceptorship role to support this for the right candidate.

The post-holder will be expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of our service users; this may involve infrequent evening/weekend work, which will be reimbursed through additional unsociable hours payments.
