We require an enthusiastic and well organised individual to work as a Bed Coordinator for Surgery, Surgical Specialties, Renal & Urology at both the Leicester Royal Infirmary and the Leicester General Hospital. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of Bed Co-coordinators working across both the LRI and LGH sites covering long days and weekends on a rota basis.


This position requires the post holder to co-ordinate and organise effective bed usage in an extremely fast moving environment. The post holder will facilitate the admission of elective and emergency patients across all General Surgery and Surgical Specialties at the LRI and General Surgery, Urology and Renal at the LGH site.

The successful candidates will need excellent communication skills and be able to co-ordinate and collate real time information on current and predicted bed availability in their respective clinical areas, facilitating the effective use of the acute hospital and community wide bed capacity.

The post holder will work independently, using their own initiative / judgment and without direct supervision. This role is pivotal to the flow of patients within the Surgical and Surgical Specialties Departments and meeting the national waiting times for the Emergency Department, cancer and elective patients (This post has no direct budgetary responsibilities).
