Speech & Language Therapist (Highly Specialist)


We are looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable SLT who has highly specialist level experience in the assessment and management of patients with dysphagia and communication impairment within an acute environment.


The SLT service located in Warrington Hospital covers both Community and Acute services across a broad range of specialties including voice, dysfluency, head and neck cancer.


Based within the adult SLT team, the post will primarily involve working with a dysphagia caseload in the acute setting. It would be ideal for an experienced SLT with strong clinical skills, including the ability to manage a complex dysphagia caseload independently.


You will be working across elderly care, general medical and surgical wards and critical care. You will provide a dysphagia and communication service across a vast range of medical conditions. You will also be required to run regular videofluoroscopy clinics, working alongside the specialist radiographer, and supporting junior colleagues.


Together with your Band 7 colleague, you will provide leadership, supervision and support to the inpatient SLT team. You will also have a role in providing training to the wider MDT.


You will have excellent communication and team working skills, as well as an ability to work independently and flexibly. We actively encourage all our staff to participate in service improvement projects, with support as needed from the clinical lead therapist.


With post graduate experience of adult acquired swallowing disorders, you will have a recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree or equivalent qualification and Health & Care Professions Council Licence to Practice.


We are a small, friendly team, able to offer ongoing support, regular team meetings, and clinical supervision as part of your CPD. Should you have an interest in additional clinical specialist areas, there may be an opportunity to develop these further.

A charge of £60 (Enhanced) will be made by the successful candidate which will be deducted from the first 3 months’ salary. In addition to this, you will also be required to re-pay any future costs that may arise in relation to DBS fees.
