Laboratory Manager

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the embryology services at one of the fastest growing clinics in the CARE group. You’ll manage and coordinate the activities of the team, allocating workloads, ensuring regulatory requirements and quality standards are met, and the standards of patient care delivered is exemplary.

Leadership/management skills are essential (ideally as a Lab Manager, or as a Deputy Lab Manager), as you’ll be responsible for daily running of the laboratory – so not only the embryology team, but also the activities within such as patient support, technically difficult cases. That means leading by example, in a capable and calm manner, even under pressure.

You need to be comfortable adapting to changing workloads. This is a new clinic; it’s growing fast and it could become one of the busiest labs in the group. With that comes uncertainty of workloads. You’ll also need to grow your team, that means recruiting, training and developing people.

You’re a great communicator, you can explain things simply and clearly to everybody – It’s important they understand what we’ve asked them to do and also why we have.

You have great attention to detail and you’re able to follow process and best practice – making sure others don’t deviate from best practice. You’ll also always be looking for areas for improvement and feel comfortable putting them forward.

You’d be joining a dynamic team in one of CARE’s busiest laboratories. CARE Birmingham undertakes many complex cases, including PGT-A, PGT-M/Sr and social oocyte freezing and performs around 600 fresh and 300 frozen treatment cycles annually.

We’re based at 27 Highfield Rd, Birmingham B15 3DP. We’re in close walking distance of Five Ways station and have free on-site parking.

This is a full-time role (however we could consider 4 days a week part-time), including some weekend sessions and we offer flexibility where possible.
