The Montefiore has an exciting opportunity for an experienced MRI Radiographer to join our friendly and knowledgeable Imaging Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to join our team and play a critical part in teaching and leading the MRI team.

The Montefiore Hospital is rated “Outstanding” by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). We practice some of the most advanced treatments on the latest generation imaging, and diagnostic technology. This means we can offer everything from screening and rehabilitation through to leading-edge surgical procedures and excellence in specialist fields like orthopaedics, cardiology, and general surgery all delivered through our expert and caring clinical team. There are buses that stop in the vicinity and is also within walking distance of both Hove and Brighton train station

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist the Diagnostic Imaging Manager in the development of strategies and policies for service improvement.
  • Set and monitor the standard of capabilities and competencies in practice required, across the team.
  • Analyze current general and specialist imaging practices in the field of MRI.
  • Analyze trends and developments against appropriate benchmarks, and up-to-date guidelines as appropriate in collaboration with the Diagnostic Imaging Manager.
  • Act as Lead Specialist Diagnostic Imaging resource to provide advice and support on assessment approaches and conclusions to colleagues and others, using highly developed clinical skills. This should be provided proactively and on request, with a particular focus on MRI.
  • To act as an MRI safety advisor and collate all relevant information.  Update working practices and policies in collaboration with the Diagnostic Imaging Manager and the MRHA.
  • Regularly assesses risk to health, safety, and security using the results to promote and improve practice.
  • Ensure that the working environment is as safe as possible and complies with organizational, professional and legal requirements and guidelines. Ensure safe working practices are maintained in accordance with guidelines set out by the NRPB/MHRA and maintain records of safety. Work within the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations and adhere to all associated local rules set out by medical physicists

Who we're looking for

  • BSc Honours in Radiography with valid HCPC registration  
  • Postgraduate experience in MRI
  • Experience of clinical leadership e.g. developing peers, mentorship
  • Experience of applying clinical reasoning skills to a range of complex and varied cases
  • Experience of working in partnership with consultants and participating in creating innovative solutions for new imaging services
