Does supporting patients recovering from Covid-19 sound like a new and rewarding challenge?

Southern health has been working as part of the wider Hampshire and Isle of Wight STP and has successfully secured funding for additional posts until April 2022.

The service works to support patients through virtual clinics, but comes together weekly as a wider MDT, including medics, GP and psychology to reflect, share cases and support patient’s needs.

Most of the patient currently being supported in the service are between the ages of 20-50, many led physically active lives and found the changes forced on them by the virus overwhelming; affecting them physically and emotionally.

Our therapists take pride in listening to each patients experience and work with them to understand their symptoms, develop strategies to recover; support them to work with their employers to educate, advice and achieve a balance between living and just getting through each day.

This is still a new service and the clinicians are developing and refining their skills on a monthly basis. Ideally you will have experience in supporting fatigue management, pacing, active listening, history taking, and physical

assessment skills and be confident presenting cases to a wider MDT.

We have a range of opportunities from supporting education classes to holding your own caseload. We would welcome applications from a range of professional groups, including therapists, physical and mental health nurses or those with a background in psychology.

If you are committed to providing high quality patient care, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, please contact us to arrange virtual meeting about the opportunity and share your experience. Informal visits are very welcome.
