Do you currently work in General Practice? Would you love to have more time with your patients with access to same-day investigations and urgent specialist follow up? Are you feeling the need to try something different or do you have a yearning for a new challenge alongside or instead of your GP role? Do you have a background or interest in acute general medicine?

Come and work in the new Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) in Prince Phillip Hospital (PPH). SDEC is the newest addition to the ‘Front of House’ model at PPH which includes a GP-led Minor Injuries Unit and Acute Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU). PPH is "the place to work" with an unrivalled team spirit where patients are always at the heart of what we do.

In this role you will see and investigate patients presenting with acute medical conditions, with the potential to be managed on the same day rather than via the traditional hospital admission route. You will be directly supported by and Advanced Nurse Practitioner / Physician Associate along with Nursing and admin support. You will regularly liaise with Primary Care, WAST and the on-call medical Consultant and their team. Additionally you will directly link in to the Acute Response Team and Specialist Hot Clinics. SDEC is an integral part the wider ‘Contact First’ model in development within Hywel Dda Health Board.

Should you wish there is an additional opportunity to combine this role with a sessional position in the adjacent Minor Injuries Unit where you can further develop your practical skills and knowledge in dealing with minor injuries and illness along with any urgent issues that may present. This service allows for close working alongside experienced Emergency and Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Secondary Care.

Part or full-time commitment available to suit you. Enhanced pay to reflect any unsociable hours. Regular educational input, appraisal and ongoing training needs will be met. This is a very exciting role where you can help shape and enhance the future of the Prince Philip Hospital
