The successful applicant will collect, retrieve and enter patient data from a variety of sources in order to facilitate clinical audit within Critical Care. The post holder will validate the data for the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre (ICNARC). This role provides an efficient and effective clerical and administrative support service to the Critical care Directorate.

The post holder needs to have excellent administration and communication skills. The role is varied and candidates need to be flexible, enthusiastic, efficient, and motivated. The post holders need to have good time management skills, the ability to use their own initiative whilst also being part of the team. Confidentiality needs to be maintained at all times.

The successful applicant must have the ability to work under pressure for a variety of individuals in a demanding work environment, have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with forward planning and organisational skills. You will require self-discipline, motivation, and the ability to adapt to evolving departmental needs.

The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, and a good understanding of basic computer skills. Knowledge of hospital Patient Center / HISS is an advantage; however training will be given to the right candidate.

A caring and compassionate outlook is also essential in dealing with the stressful and demanding situations that can occur within the ICU setting; however the main role of the ward clerk is to provide support for the ICU team in clerical duties, and in the day to day running of the ICU.

Occasionally you may be required to work flexibly cross site to cover for annual leave.
