Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proficient, innovative ANNP to join our established proactive team with a designated Senior ANNP Lead.

ANNPs currently support the medical rota, with a future strategy to enhance the multi-professional neonatal team as an independent tier. With experience there is the potential to function clinically at Tier 2.

University Hospitals Plymouth hosts the Network Neonatal Unit for the South West Peninsula, providing non-surgical intensive care and transport services for Devon and Cornwall. The unit has 14 intensive/high dependency cots, 8 special care cots and 18 cots in the adjoining Transitional Care Ward supporting a 7 day/week Neonatal Outreach Service.

The successful candidate will undertake delegated advanced clinical care within the maternity and neonatal departments with the opportunity to develop as part of the Peninsula Neonatal Transport Service. As experienced senior nurses the ANNPs promote nurse-led initiatives, develop individual and team objectives and play a key role in service development.

The Unit supports the MSc Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner programme, which has been successfully developed in partnership with the University of Plymouth. This contemporary curriculum has facilitated the recruitment and training of Enhanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (ENNP), developing ways to support nursing and medical staff in providing neonatal care pathways; with the potential to develop into the ANNP role.

ANNPs are fundamental to academic and clinical education. They support the Clinical Educators, module partnership programmes and the multidisciplinary team with quality teaching and training, promoting patient safety, service development and succession planning.

Relocation package may be considered
