We have a new and exciting opportunity available to offer those with interest in working within frontline child and adolescent mental health services!

This is open to professionals with a core qualification. Specifically registered mental health or dual trained nurses to be enrolled into our newly established CAMHS Academy to develop your skills into becoming a specialist CAMHS practitioner. Those with social work or occupational health background also accepted.

We have two roles available. These are as a experienced clinician at Band 6; or as a Band 5 development role to Band 6 once competencies are met.

CAMHS Liaison is an innovative service which aims to assess and meet the needs of young people who attend the local acute hospital, following an incident of self-harm or acute mental health crisis. This is to reduce wait times, avoidable admissions and improve young people’s experiences in these environments.

You need to be confident in engaging young people and their families whilst assessing and managing the risks identified at the point of crisis. You will not be holding a case load but will be required to liaise with many different services and professionals involved in the young persons journey.

The clinical delivery of this service will function 7 days a week, with shifts covering hours of 9am – 10pm Monday-Friday and 9am-5pm at weekends and bank holidays. This role will be based in Portsmouth Queen Alexandra Hospital, with some ability to work remotely.

We need you to be a passionate, dynamic and flexible individual, in order to contribute to the high standard of mental health services we provide to young people and their families.

Experience of working with young people, preferably in a mental health setting is preferrable. And a core qualification such as Social Work, Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, CBT Therapist (etc...) is essential.

This is a great team to be part of, where staff wellbeing and team support is prioritised!

If you have any questions or would like an informal discussion about the role, please do not hesitate to contact Nathalie Kealy (CAMHS Liaison Manager) on 03001236632.

We will contact you via NHS Jobs if you are shortlisted for interview.Candidates selected for interview will be contacted before the given interview date; therefore you should check your emails regularly including junk mail folders.

Note about shortlisting/interviews:

Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, and the associated restrictions in place, we are currently unable to schedule interviews as we normally would. Therefore interviews will be held virtually until further notice. Please be assured that we will be in touch with details of the arrangements. We will endeavour to keep delays to a minimum but shortlisting may take longer than usual, dependant on staff availability.Thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.
