Data Quality Manager – South West Child Health Information System

We are seeking aData Quality Manager(DQM) for our South West Child Health Information Service (SW CHIS). The Data Quality Manager will ensure the quality of the information held on the Child Health Information System, that the population held is correct and that all data flows are working effectively.

There is scope to develop this role as InHealth Intelligence develops its CHIS services and the job description should be seen as a starting point for the ambitious.

The CHIS manages heath records for all children 0-19 within the area, ensuring a complete record of immunisations and screening results is maintained and shared to clinicians as necessary. The DQM will ensure routine DQ validations are carried out, that the reporting schedule is adhered to and will be active within the Change Management process supporting innovations to the service.

The CHIS uses SystemC’s CarePlus as their database and HI Hub (Health Intelligence software). The data is both received and transferred electronically using a range of methods including FIHR messages via NEMS, EMIS Search and Report, TPP SystmOne reporting, SFTP and MESH files.

The service covers the geographical areas of Bristol, North Somerset, Somerset and South Gloucester, (BNSSSG) and Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (DCIOS). Within those areas we work closely with more than 700 general practices and 11 maternity units, as well as School Aged Immunisation Providers, Newborn Hearing Screening Providers, Health Visitors and School Nurses, Safeguarding Teams and BCG providers.

Managing a team of 9 skilled and highly motivated staff based across the region your team’s work supports the Operational Lead and the 3 Deputies who manage the day to day running of the CHIS and you will work closely together.

Knowledge of GP clinical systems and health data coding (SNOMED) would be most advantageous. An analytical and enquiring mind is essential, with the ability to see potential problems, share those insights to the wider team and provide workable solutions. Technical skills are vital but this is not purely a data role, the successful person will have the personality to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and colleagues explaining technical issues to non-technical people.

Starting salary from £32,000

InHealth Intelligence Terms and Conditions which includes private health care (after qualifying period)

The post holder will have one of the 4 SW CHIS offices as their base: Bridgwater, Plymouth, Exeter or Truro, but will also be able to work from home. Travel to the other CHIS offices, InHealth Intelligence Head Office in Winsford, Cheshire and to partner organisations in the South West will be necessary on occasion.
