We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual to join our Paediatric Pre Assessment Service as a Band 7 Nurse Practitioner.

Our Paediatric Pre Assessment Service evaluates anaesthetic risk and optimizes complex pre-existing conditions to enable safe general anaesthesia for a variety of surgical and diagnostic procedures. Working in close partnership with the consultant paediatric anaesthetists who underpin the service, the clinical expertise of the Nurse Practitioners is instrumental in assessing patients face to face, virtually or by telephone; and then arranging investigations and liaising with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care pathways before and during admission. In addition, they collaborate with other AHP’s to work with children, young people and their families or carers to alleviate anxieties and facilitate patient-centric perioperative plans, including reasonable adjustments.

Personal attributes include excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills, alignment to the Trust core values, and the credibility to work collaboratively with senior management, clinicians, staff, patients and key stakeholders to build excellent relationships and deliver outstanding care.

Candidates must be a NMC registered Children’s Nurse. Candidates should also have evidence of achievement in current post and on-going professional development with recent experience in extended clinical practice. They should have a degree/Masters level study, or equivalent specialist study / experience.

Informal visits to meet the team and discuss the role are encouraged.
