Meet and Greeter

37.5 hours/week - 24 hours rotational shift pattern (08.00 – 20.30/ 20.00 – 08.30) with 1 hour break over a 7-day week


The post holder will work as part of the Access team, specifically within Crisis Home treatment, focussing on the direct needs of service users. To ascertain when an individual attends Harrison house the purpose of their visit, to establish the need or level of support they require if they are requesting to see the crisis team. Our ‘Meeters and Greeters’ (M&G’s) are an initial point of contact and a link person between the crisis practitioners and the service user.


They are also the outreach workers who will be an integral part of our Joint Response Vehicle pilot project. This vehicle will travel into the local community and will offer the key link between urgent and emergency health services, mental health services and the wider multi-disciplinary team.


You will be motivated and experienced in mental health support work with a good understanding of the importance of engagement, building a rapport and assessing risk. The post of Meet and Greeter is integral to our Crisis service; the successful applicant must have experience in acute mental health services and be confident in their assessment skills.


This is a front facing role and you will be engaging with service users, their families, relevant agencies, the general public and many different teams and colleagues across NAViGO. The main purpose of the role is to:-


  • Assess and establish the mental health need of individuals who attend Harrison House requesting to see the Crisis team.
    • Collect and establish details of all service users brought to site on Section 136
    • Help to reduce un-necessary waits for individuals who might be attending for needs other than of a mental health nature.
    • Establish and collect key details from individuals to aid the assessment process.
    • Assist in reducing the isolation and risk of incendiary behaviours that can occur when people are distressed or agitated.
    • As required, support Crisis in other duties such as home visits or assessments to act as second person to establish need or risk.
    • As required, link to Safe Space to support Safe Space staff.
    • Support the objective of the Joint Response vehicle


All positions are subject to the receipt of satisfactory references and medical clearance. Evidence of valid professional registration and appropriate DBS clearances will also be required where relevant. All posts will also be subject to successful completion of a 12 week probationary period.


Please note that all new employees joining NAViGO will be able to contribute to the NHS pension.
