You will act as a specialist resource for clients, management, and human resources (People Services) on Occupational Health issues

As a senior clinician you will provide a comprehensive Occupational Health service. You will have the opportunity to manage your own clinical caseload applying your specialist knowledge when providing OH and wellbeing advice to our own staff and designated external clients.

As a senior clinician you will have the opportunity to support and develop junior colleagues and our trainee Occupational Health Advisors, ensuring we strive to provide a motivated , high quality service.

You will be joining our department at a very exciting time, you will not only have the opportunity to shape our OH service, but also to work with other Trusts to shape OH provision in the NHS.

Service Summary

Our Solent NHS Trust OH service specialises in the care and well-being of people at work and here at Solent NHS Trust we pride ourselves on providing a high quality SEQOHS accredited Occupational Health & Wellbeing service for staff working in a range of public and private sector organisations.

You will be providing Occupational Health advice, support and recommendations to Solent staff and employees of clients who we provide an Occupational Health and Wellbeing service to.

Our team have played a pivotal role in supporting our staff during the pandemic, we continue to be at the centre of developing health and wellbeing advice and support to staff and managers.

As part of a multidisciplinary team you will be working closely with Occupational Health Physicians, Advisors, Practice Nurses, physiotherapists, mental health practitioners, wellbeing practitioners, covid support team and administration team offering a wide range of services, resources and activities. We are proud to have built a Health & Wellbeing Champions and Mental Health First Aider network across Solent supporting our OH offer, our cutting edge OH provision and Solent’s wellbeing vision.

- in addition to the OH team you will have links with Infection Prevention, Respiratory Health, Sexual Health, Pharmacy and Procurement.

Job Responsibilities

To include, but not limited to:

  • Managing caseload, making clinical, ethical decisions based on specialist knowledge, evidence based best practice and clinical reasoning
  • Clinically assessing and providing advice regarding pre placement health assessment
  • Providing professional and clinical leadership
  • Ensuring data is accurately and comprehensively recorded in line with your code of practice
  • Participating in Audit and development of Policies and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Working within SEQOHS standards and the Trusts policies

Personal Skills/Qualities

You will be confident, organised, able to work autonomously, have excellent interpersonal skills and effectively integrate as a member of our highly skilled multidisciplinary team. You will be able to demonstrate an empathetic, client centred approach, encompassing staffs physical, psychological and social health.
