B5 Mental Health Practitioner for Adult Specialist Weight Management Service (fixed term till 31.3.2022) – 22.5hrs per week (0.6wte)

REMOTE or hybrid working fixed term contract to the 31st of March 2022 Mental Health Practitioner – suitable for either Allied Health Professional or Registered Mental Health Nurse.

The Tier 3 Adult Specialist Weight Management Service is a Leeds citywide integrated service providing evidenced based weight management support for people with severe and complex obesity. The overarching aim of the service is to improve physical, emotional, psychological and social functioning and wellbeing, whilst promoting and sustaining clinically significant weight loss.

The service is provided by a partnership of skilled members of staff from Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust, Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust and Leeds and York Partnership Foundation Trust. The multidisciplinary team work together to offer a number of evidence-based interventions in-line with national guidelines.

We are looking to recruit a Mental Health Practitioner with post qualification experience for 22.5 hours a week on a fixed term contract. The service is being delivered remotely but there could be an opportunity for hybrid working as well.

The Tier 3 Adult Specialist Weight Management Service operates a stepped care system, providing evidence based N.I.C.E. Guidance interventions appropriate for the client’s clinical presentation. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Guided Self Help and Psycho-Educational Classes. You will be part of the Multi-disciplinary team delivering a 12-month Tier 3 weight management pathway. The team includes a Medical Consultant, Consultant Psychiatrist, CBT therapist, Specialist Dietitians, Physiotherapist, Weight Management Facilitator supported by a Team Administrator.

We would like to hear from you if you can demonstrate your commitment to providing high quality care and psychological treatment. Before applying, please ensure that you can meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Relevant Mental Health qualification/registered with professional body such as Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMH), Occupational Therapy Certificate, Professional Mental Health/Psychology qualification and registered with HCPC.

  • Experience of working in Mental Health Services, with clients presenting with common mental health problems

  • Experience of undertaking specialist holistic mental health assessment, risk assessment and formulation and can demonstrate that these skills are maintained.

  • Experience of delivering appropriate therapeutic, risk management and relapse prevention interventions in a time-limited manner, to clients with common mental health problems, in line with professional standards and service protocols

  • Good IT skills and excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative way with colleagues and other services.

  • Sufficient internet connection to be able to work remotely. You may be required to work twilight sessions to deliver some programmes of work for periods during your contract.
