We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist (Head & Neck Oncology) to join our Oncology & Haematology team based at our Cancer Centre in London (close to Regents Park & Baker St tube stations. We are offering an inclusive salary range starting at £47,341 per annum.

Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK’s largest private hospitals with approx. 1350 employees across 8 sites around Harley Street. The Duchess of Devonshire Wing is our award-winning cancer centre specially designed for patients receiving cancer treatment. The facility has 8 floors, which includes state-of-the-art radiotherapy, chemotherapy suites and 18 dedicated Oncology in-patient bedrooms.

Job Description

The CNS will be a clinical expert in the field of Head and Neck cancers and their management. You will have the skills to lead in practice development and innovation, with specific regard to the development of autonomous nursing practice and nurse led services.

• Job Type: Permanent and Full-Time
• Shifts: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Key Duties

• Management of direct patient care and to be responsible for a clinical case load.
• Through critical thinking make autonomous evidence based clinical decisions to support patient care, as well as support the Radiotherapy Clinical Nurse Specialist and wider Oncology & Haematology CNS team.
• Maintain accurate and concise documentation in relation to clinical activities.
• Work collaboratively with other professionals both within and out of the hospital setting to ensure patient needs are met, especially in relation to ongoing care needs and discharge arrangements.
• Provide professional support to staff working within the surgical or oncology setting.

Skills & Experience

• Registered General Nurse.
• Considerable post registration experience in an acute hospital setting within an oncology setting with surgical and Oncology experience within Head and Neck Cancer.
• Post registration course within the Oncology specialism or working towards.
• Proven track record of recognised practice development initiatives and team building skills.
• Clinical leadership qualities, including team working and team building skills.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate with patients, relatives, colleagues, hospital personnel and external customers, relevantly and diplomatically.
