Band 6 Community Learning Disability (LD) Nurse

12-month secondment

Due to the promotion of the current post holder, we have a great opportunity for a band 6 Community LD Nurse to join the County East team on a secondment for 12 months. The post is full time, but part time hours may be considered.

Expressions of interest would be welcome from current band 5 nurses or experienced band 6 nurses looking to gain Community Learning Disability Nurse experience.

The Team

The East locality Community LD team covers the geographical areas of Oadby, Wigston /Market Harborough and Melton and Rutland. We are a multi-disciplinary team working closely alongside OT’s, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists and Psychiatrists. We work in close partnership with other agencies to support people with a learning disability who have complex physical and mental health needs.

This position will provide the opportunity to develop skills in specialist Learning Disability nursing, mentoring students, pathway working and multi-disciplinary work whilst being part of a supportive team.

We will provide regular clinical supervision and you will be supported to continue your professional development.

Main duties of the post:

- You will be providing high quality assessment support and advice to people with a learning disability and their carers and provide specialist health interventions such as complex physical health, epilepsy, positive behaviour support and mental health.

- You will manage your own caseload and provide clinical supervision for junior staff and students and cover for the band 7 manager as required.

- The ability to travel around the county is essential as you will need to undertake home visits and attend meetings.
